****ing ridiculous. Hamilton clearly let off and gave the place back, then accelerated again - letting off would lose any advantage he had over Kimi from getting extra grip from cutting the corner. A clean outbraking maneuver IMO.

Surely after this...

"McLaren has since said that its data showed that after lifting to let Raikkonen back through, Hamilton was 6km/h (4mph) slower than the Ferrari as they crossed the start/finish line."

... piece of data is looked at, no way could Hamilton have gained an unfair sporting advantage by cutting the chicane that allowed him to pass Raikkonen - he backed off and let him back through!!! Hamilton passed Raikkonen because Raikkonen over-defened and went too far left into Le Sourse and allowed Hamilton to take the inside (and best - see last years Hamilton v's Alonso battle) line.

Could you imagine a football result being over-turned because the referee decided that after viewing video footage a player was off-side and the goal no longer counts? How many other sports can retrospectively alter the result like this??

If they insist on unfairly handing Hamilton any kind of penanlty then it should either be a fine (like Ferrari, for their rule infringement in Valancia) or a grid penalty for forthecoming Monza but a 25 second penalty is a punishment that doesn't fit the "crime" (probably how much he would have lost with a drive-through but the Stewards didn't have enough time to assess the evidence and impose this before the race had finished).

And just to make you aware that I'm not against all FIAT's, I'm big Rossi/Lorenzo fan...

only ones where one team is allowed to play pocket billiards with the people who decide the result using arbitrary logic

So Ferrari get their own way as usual especially when serious points in the championship are at stake.Oh just remind me what happened last time when Massa nearly wiped out a car in the pit lane?Err nothing IIRC.

Its a stewards decision, nothing from what I have seen to do with ferrari complaining what so ever.

I admit its pretty harsh, but it would also be good to read a full stewards report or their thinking behind it...

edit - I just watched the incident on the news, from how I read it, he didnt really let Kimi back full in front it looked like they drew level, kimi got 1/2 or 3/4's of a car length in front and then lewis drew alongside him again...

Dunno its kind of hard to tell from the camera angle.

After the last corner when Lewis was forced to straight line as we looked Lewis was on the right and kimi on left. Lewis let kime back past and as kimi passed lewis he the cut in front. As he did this lewis cut left (as we looked) and now kimi was on the right and lewis on the left as he passed kimi.

If kimi had not completely got in fron the lewis drove through kimi's car.

Ferrari may not have complained but only had to look at the stewards to force a change.

I assume Kimi will get 25 seconds penalty at next race.

F1 is going to lose it's spectators at this rate.

I did watch the race live and after the 'incident' thought Lewis backing off to allow Kimi back in front would be an end to it, so was surprised to hear he'd been demoted. It does smack of Ferrari favoritism this and it's not clear why, yes the result change leaves Massa just 2 points behind Lewis, but even if the original result stood the gap would have been just 8 points i think. Hardly a vast chasm with 5 races still to go. F1 has spoiled itself again and after such a great last couple of laps today

Of course you could also argue that Kimi shoved Lewis off the road by not leaving him room and thats why he cut the corner in the first place, so is that dangerous driving ?

Personally I think they should let what happens on the track stand, I have a lot of respect for Martin Brundle and he never said a word about, to me it was a racing incident nothing more nothing less. Its irrelevant anyway as Kim stuck it in the wall all by himself anyway.

I was on the edge of my seat shouting at the TV again and that doesnt happen with F1 very often does it.
