I used to do 400-500 miles a week in the van. It does 22 mpg on the motorway.

Now running on veg oil I was paying 63p a litre in the summer of last year. Spookily, veg oil is now up to 100.1p a litre now. How co-incidental!

I won't be doing 400-500 miles a week any more... and if it hits £1.50 I'm going to chuck in the business, walk into the dole office and tell them to sort me out with benefits! They obviously don't want me working for a living!

The sporty ones aren't great, you've got to rag the buggerance out of them to get anywhere as you can forget doing anything below 6k ish.

Though since it's a while since they've been popular I think everyone's forgotten.

I'd guess they'd be comparable to an SV.

not sure on bhp, im running higher comp a swell 10thou gasket job, getting it on a dyno soon hopfully and get it tuned
120bhp, had more than that in my 750 (according to suzuki). Poof.

Get it on a dyno ASAP, you said yourself it smells of fuel. If it is running rich then sooner you do it better as it is costing you money.

In 1949 a Vincent Black Shadow - by FAR the quickest bike on the roads - would do: 96;91.2;86.4;70mpg @ 30;40;50;60mph
In mid-60's my scooter ( with motocross engine ) would do either 13mpg or 130mpg depending on pilot enthusiasm.

My advice to anyone in this situation DON'T SIGN ON, they will bend you over (K*nt and the Gang comes to mind, PM me if you don't know the song I'm on).

Cheers YC my SV probs does more, as i do around 140 miles to the light

Wish I had - with seriously lowered gearing it went a hell of a lot faster. Just dont think about that piston approaching your rectum at warp speed!

this is a run down on costs for me.

it costs me £50 a week (5 days) on fuel and in the job i do im expected to work most weekends so thats £70 on fuel, that leaves £30 for the rest of the week, so lets say a rear tyre for the sv is £90+ then a front £80+ then oil is £18 a filter £10

at 70 miles a day and if im working weekends thats 490miles a week at a guess id be changing oil every 4-6 weeks (3000 miles) and filter every 3 months then lets say i get 8k out of a rear tyre so every 10-12 week i need a new rear tire then a front lasts like 10k so on so forth .....

so the scenario is for 12 weeks i get £1,200, i spend £70per week on fuel for 6 weeks and £50per week for 6 weeks on fuel, 2 oil changes, 1 filter change ,1 rear tyre and 1 front tyre (this dosn't include things like chain lube, and other stuf)

£70x6week= £420 on fuel (6 out of 12 weeks)
£50x6week= £300 on fuel (6 out of 12 weeks)
sub total fuel= £720
£18x2= £36 (1 oil change 1 filter and oil)
£10 oil filter)
oil changes sub total= £46
£90 for rear tyre not inc fitting (do it my self)
£80 for front tyre not inc fitting (" ")
sub total on tyres= £170

total out goings for 12 weeks= £936
total money left over from 12 weeks pay = £267.......

if i wasn't living at home and had food paid for and other bits id be broke ...

sorry about that was just getting it off my chest
Correct me if I'm wrong but with a heave of breath and a grandad's "in myyy day"... apprentice wage was £55 a week and fuel was a bit under 90p does that not make you like £6 worse off a (5 day) week on fuel and £45 up on wages?

Student's get nothing incoming (bar subsidised debt) and everything outgoing - I'd rather be in your shoes with a modded to **** sv650, no debt and getting to play with engines all day!
