Re: Vintage film cameras
Go with your gut Yoko, most people do expect an offer. You can (legitimately!) say you have no idea if any of it works and pull some faces. Really though you can sell some of it and keep the rest.
Voigtlander looks nice. Know what you mean about the shutters, it's also a potentially good way to bargain if you looking at one face to face. |

Re: Vintage film cameras
I sent the seller a mail. The CE3 Chinon seems to be half decent too and takes the Pentax lenses.
If I go for it, would the AE1 be heading in the direction of Ipswich? |

Re: Vintage film cameras
Could be, if the price is right. Not film related but seeing as I used it taking shots of fixing film cameras, using YouTube I have successfully cleaned the sensor on my TZ35 and saved £50. Dropped a sensor screw but my wife found it

Re: Vintage film cameras
I'm a bit like Johnny, no issue doing it to my own stuff but would be wary of other people's stuff. Different if attempting to fix something that's pretty much dead anyway. The sensor is under the silver thing on the left and just gave it a good blast with my rocket blower.
I used this guide https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4-T2PQH0T9o main difference being my lcd and keypad came off from a multi connector in one piece. It is an AE 1 in that ad wasn't it? Can't find any info on the CE 5.

http://mailch.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03...35mm-film.html It's got a vertical metal Seiko shutter like the XD5/7 too That's a useful SBS for cleaning the lumix. Mine's an old one anyway but it still works for now and I've managed to keep the dust out of the lens. |

Re: Vintage film cameras
Its mostly superzooms that suffer dust as the action of the lens retracting causes a vacuum and pulls in dust. A seal around the sensor would solve the problem. That's a pretty well featured camera. Not heard back yet?

Re: Vintage film cameras
Just now. The equipment was all a relative's so the seller has no idea about the lenses or if everything works.
I'll try to arrange to go over and have a look. Might have to pick your brains beforehand about things to look out for. |

Re: Vintage film cameras
we'll discuss the price later, once I've seen what all the lenses are, what state they are in and if the cameras work. Hopefully going up there tonight or tomorrow.
I'll take batteries up with me to check electrics and light meter sensitivity. Can look at light and mirror seals, overall condition, winder mechanism, shutter condition/speeds etc. Lenses for clarity, lack of fungus, aperture operation. Anything else to look for/check? |
