Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
That maybe true, but what I didn't say was we'd just been to Portsmouth, then London and returned to our officein Felixstowe, before deriving to Dover last night, so there was a lot of traveling between jobs and my gripe is the lack of appreciation by those who work higher up the chain of what we do to get the job done.
It's not about the job or pay and conditions.

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
So basically everyone is moaning that they are being shafted by their employers.
Anyone fancy joining me on a five day strike thats been proposed? That should make our bosses take notice that we've had enough... Also leave me skint but.... Needs must, it better than rolling over and being treated like poop.

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
Understood. A lot of people only require a nod of thanks from someone that they respect which hardly seems to much to ask for.
Many years ago I was in the office at about 9pm and someone walked by and said goodnight - I turned around to find it was the CEO. I was amazed he knew my name but it turns out he'd noticed I'd been working late and then made efforts to find out who I was and what I was doing. He sent me an email saying that if I was working late and wanted to order pizza, do so with his approval. That was all it took for my batteries to be refreshed. I was a lot younger then - Italy had only just been discovered. |

Loving the job you do, can make a difference.
Sorry but we don't all feel that way. Yes boss man do shaft the worker's. But if you don't like it. Try to find something better. Someone is probly happy to take your job .

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
That's good management. I'm fed up with meaningless email thank you notes.
There is a reward and recognition scheme but HQ staff tend to get it for designing a nice poster

Personally I've always had to just eat the overtime. In my last (salaried) job I was usually first in and nearly last out and it nearly killed me. I'm now a contractor and although I will pitch in when busy I walk out on time almost every day now.
