Sorry to hear this, good luck with your search.

I need to clean the exhaust up now, grind off the sharp ridge left behind when the heat shield came off and try to remove the stuck bolt. Lots of noise in our garden this afternoon if the rain ever stops.

Simple answer don't bother, didn't need that bit anyway.

This is the little B*s*a*d that gave me so much trouble. Well done Suzuki for using such rubbish quality nuts and bolts. It took the wife beating it with a cold chisel to remove the strip of steel that held the nut captive.

Exhaust now is cleaned up and ready for refitting once the swing arm is serviced and the new shock fitted.

Was also wondering this when I saw the pictures.

Good work on this thread.

Cheers Chris, given the number of bolts there, I had wondered about this. However Carol has fixed it now, so it can go back on easily. Well once I have finished polishing it!

Good work on this thread.
Thank you, when I started this thread, I had little or no idea and needed lots of advice about doing some jobs. As time has gone on, I have become more proficient and I think that this shows now, given that I can pretty much pull my bike apart on my own. I am a bit worried about putting it all back together though!

As for having the horn (oh how love making jokes about having the horn!) mounted, it was on my fork leg, bolted to one of the now redundant brake line guides. Given that I am about to fit a new set of forks though, I have moved it again and will now have it mounted in my fairing infront of the radiator cap.

It is all just a case of waiting for bits and hoping that I am fit enough to do the work. It took me two weeks to take the exhaust off, I have no idea how long it will be before I am fit enough to remove the swing arm.

This is what I aspire to. Someday I will have the space to have a project bike and space to work on it.

Congrats on the learning experience

Thank you for your kind words.

There is only one way to gain experience and that is by doing it. Have faith in you, but also be realistic and have a good friend on call who can help if it gets beyond what you can do on your own.

I am still learning and often need help to do stuff, luckily the folks here are happy to give advice and my other half is a mechanic so is brilliant.

I live in an apartment. Not sure how I could do this.

Definitely in mind for the future though.
