Re: Vintage film cameras
I'm going to have to go on a selling spree soon and get rid of some surplus stuff though.

Re: Vintage film cameras
haha, me too. Just finished checking out the Minimatic, the meter is alive, but who knows how alive. It operates the auto stuff, a complicated hell of plates and stuff. The RF patch is very faint and I haven't checked it for accuracy but seems there or thereabouts. Will punt it on ebay for the few shekels I paid for it, unless someone really wants to try it. It's basically Mamiya's version of a Trip, simple two-blade shutter and aperture, fully auto exposure, or F stops for using the flash, so the only way to test it really is put a film in it. TBH we've all got more things to do, and better cameras to use! Am going to try the Vito next I think.

Re: Vintage film cameras
If you mean the Minimatic, don't bother, I suspect it'd be a waste of a roll.
Good news Yoko! Amazing what is sometimes in a bundle of stuff. You often see things like some of the unpopular camera bodies going fora few quid, and they have a strap on them and the little triangular rings as well. Straps don't sell so well but the rings go for £5-6 a pair, crazy though it sounds, also cases, lenses etc. sell well, so with the right collection of stuff and some time on your hands you can get back more than you paid, maybe not by a lot, but depends what you want to do of course. |

Re: Vintage film cameras
I would give it a shot. All cameras deserve a second chance. Probably why I can't leave them on the shelf if I see them!

Re: Vintage film cameras
Swap it for your Lynx. Only kidding, really it's not worth the bother, my money is on underexposure and I've not checked the collimation. The trick to fixing stuff is to know when to stop trying. They're pretty cheap if not plentifully available. I think on this one either the selenium cell is half way to being dead, or the moving coil meter is a bit ropey, probably form years of being jammed in place, both of which are essential to the exposure.
