My wife (Phil) has a jack, all I have is a paddock stand!

There must be something wrong with my technique, I've never needed a jack to *remove* a wheel. That said, I've never used one to put it back in, either.

I always use a suitable length of wood. Abba stand and said piece of wood under the front cylinder.

That makes sense but I don't have an Abba stand.

How pray tell do you lift the wheel off the ground then? If the bike is resting on the front and you take out the axle you are in trouble!

Well there you go, now we get to the crux of the issue! I don't have one of them, so I need my friend "jack" to bodge it

Also, I went to Fox's, but they haven't put the plaque up. I asked about it and told them to remind the owners. Will check back in a bit.

Or, if you have a garage you can hoist the front up from the rafters using some heavy duty twine under the yokes. I've yet to test this one though.

I have those fixed to a rafter under my lean-to. Used them when I stripped my bro's front end.
