Had the dvd drive in my pc pack up. Not an expensive problem but more of the hassle to pull it apart to fix.

Didn't know people still used DVD drives, not had one in my PC for 3 years.

Yeah, I have some older games on disc as well as burning stuff.

Changed the sata cable and it seems to be fine.

Yep, using a virtual DVD/CD drive is great.

I use one on my media centre & my hacked Wii, where all the games are backed up onto a USB drive. Saves burning out the Wii DVD drive, which gets overly hot when playing for extended periods.
