Re: What have you tinkered with today?
Yes. New to me. Much more easy on the bank account than the previous shiny one I had but does need a bit of work doing and a general tidy up. I'm pleased with it so far, although haven't had a chance to actually take it out for a test properly yet obviously. The only problem I can see at the moment is the gear indicator that has no idea what is going on, jumping around all over the place and showing the wrong gears. Either a replacement (originally under warranty apparently, although I won't get that) or needs a good clean out to get it working. Hopefully just the latter. I'd leave it but apparently it does affect the fueling and confuses the ECU causing erratic handling.
What are the recalls on yours and how did you find out about them?

Mine got confused on my SV (AL7) between first and second until I'd done a couple of gear changes then it sorted itself. I removed it to clean it but on the SV it's a sealed unit (ie not intended to be dismantled). I tried spraying contact cleaner on it which didn't help which wasn't surprising since it sits in a small amount of oil anyway. I ordered a new one (£107) but before fitting it I discovered if I leave the bike parked in first gear it solved the problem. That was a year ago - hasn't gone wrong since.

A check here will tell you what recalls apply by model and year. https://www.check-vehicle-recalls.se...481.1578123474 I found after the official Suzuki check, that just tells you by reg if there are recalls outstanding and to contact dealer, doesn't tell you what they are though. I know the brake recall at least applied to earlier bikes in the 600/750 range so may be worth a check. https://bikes.suzuki.co.uk/owners/ch...anding-recall/ Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk |

Re: What have you tinkered with today?
Cheers. Gov site suggests I have a brake recall. Suzuki site with reg entered says there's nothing outstanding, so maybe it has been done? The bike did come with very detailed service history, showing it also had Hel lines fitted a couple of K miles ago, so guessing the fluid is all good. Brakes feel solid.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?
The things the manuals don't tell you // The things sharing info on forums does tell you.
A 1p is the perfect size for masking the lower bearing on VFR forks, held on with a bit of blu tack. The primer finally arrived to day so did the first stage of painting the VFR forks. Letting them sit for a couple of days (back at work again tomorrow) and then on to the Hammerite smooth silver, which seems to be recommended for DIY Honda fork jobs as a fairly good match.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?
Latest purchase turned up today.
Denali soundbomb, the big 120db one. Got the split one so had a chance to find somewhere to fit it. The compressor fits under the tank, just. It is chuffing loud, tested in the garage and the Mrs complained about the loud noise and she was in the bedroom at the other side of the house Sent from a S20 using Tapatalk with that kin cr4p blocked

Re: What have you tinkered with today?
Took a week longer than I thought (waiting on parts) but finally got the VFR forks finished, new springs, oil and seals and fitted back on to the bike today. It would have had new bushes fitted too but Pyramid Parts managed to supply some totally the wrong size in the kit again (Last ones I got from them were for my SV and totally wrong too). Original bushes are actually ok anyway.
Fairly pleased with the refurb overall. Need to test ride and dial in the preload next week before using it to commute again.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?
Spent time setting up and testing some small trackers. Quite pleased with them. Hid one in the boot of the car and opening the door set off the vibration alarm and triggered the text to my phone. Managed also to get a longer and louder sound for the notification. Just got to find somewhere to hide them on the bikes now and then do some testing to see sensitive they are. Re: What have you tinkered with today?
Managed to neatly fit the flashing brake light to AL7. ( photos on PDF attached ) - the brake light is bright and eye-catching - like the extra hi-level brake light on four wheel vehicles.
Only wired up the brake light part, there is another wire if you want the normal brightness sidelight function as well - but decided brake light would be more noticeable if not normally lit as a sidelight. Just to clarify ( there are several models ), the LB03 is the flashing brake light ( initially 5 flashes at 0.5 sec each - then steady ) and normal rear sidelight - some of the other models do weird things like sequential side-to-side 'knight rider' sidelight - which has got to be illegal - especially in UK. https://www.amazon.com/Custom-Dynami...s%2C222&sr=8-1 Bought one of these cables ( normally used by model makers for their servos ) and cut it in half, used one end to connect to bike wiring and the other to connect to new aux brake light - the ends just plug into each other - makes it easy to remove or extend the wiring in future.... https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Re: What have you tinkered with today?
Had a play with the can bus data. Wrote a quick script to read and convert the data.
Not sure for what purpose, mainly as a distraction from grouting the bathroom. Edit: overlay on the dash cam... Sent from an S20 using Tapatalk with that kin cr4p blocked
