Remotely rebooted a server in a datacentre 150 miles away.

It hasn't come back. I now need to arrange to drive down, get access to the physical screen/keyboard. Customer will not provide ip-kvm etc.

I do too. "We don't need that, it's extraneous" until it takes a day to do what it would take you 5 mins to do.

Used to administer a server in South Africa under similar circumstances - from the UK. Darn thing never failed to reboot. No free holidays for me

my gripe:
lovely ride out with my dad, just under 100miles up the durham dale for a coffee
all the bikers we passed friendly and talking to one at the cafe

...then, 1 mile from home im going through town at about 4pm, school kids and cars everywhere and a stupid harley w...er canes it up the middle of the road! AARGH!!
