A girl I used to work with who is way younger than me, early thirties tops, and lives an incredibly healthy lifestyle had to have a double mastectomy this week plus 8 lymph nodes removed. I've just been chatting to her. The diagnosis is always a shock but people like MacMillan can be extremely helpful.

Poor her! .

I've just had one big one taken out my neck so far. But theyve told me I've got atleast another 12 in my neck and 2 in my tummy that are highly suspect.

Yeah I've been told about them. I'll have to look into it (:

If its plumbing or bike talk i can usually understand, but doctors might aswel speak to me in french than talk medical terms. I've no idea haha.

Don't be afraid to take a notebook in and write down what the doc says, then MacMillan can help explain it all afterwards. Sometimes you start hearing all those terms and jargon and your mind goes blank. Afterwards you think of all the questions you wished you'd thought to ask.

Ankle's healed, just got back into the running over the last couple of weeks and now I've pulled a bloody muscle in my back lifting one of my PA speakers off its stand.

Thats really good advice actually. Thankyou.

I've actually been taking my mum whos abit more medically minded than me, but its a shock to both of us so we both do forget to ask things.

What i will say folks, is do get things checked if you arent sure.

I've had this painless lump in my neck for probably 10 months tbh, completely painless n what not. Went in to the doctors last September and got referred straight away. The hospital were abit slow on the uptake IMO and i only got the biggest one taken out 2 weeks ago. Still thinking nothing of it, i mean, im 22, fit and healthy, people dont get cancer at 22, im not that unlucky. but uh, yeah they do it seems.

So if you do spot anything. I would strongly actually listen to the adverts haha.

I've just been abit naive i guess.

Nevermind!

Sorry to hear your news. It's not the end of the world though, it can be managed depending on type. Lots of good info here...
