during mod 1 and 2 you spend far more time on real roads than you do in the test centre |

![]() I am perfectly aware of what the test and training consist of. I personally think that the actual test, on the day, where you don't have an instructor in your ear, should cover a longer period of time on the road. Like, I think it was YC, suggested earlier, more time spent on learning proper road position, more time learning how to approach bends, more time learning how to ride around the town and how to filter etc... |

Wasn't the old test 1 hour long on real roads?
So in effect these have reduced the most important part of your assessment by 15 minutes |

no because before you had to do your manoeuvres in that time to. the road part of the test is harder now because you dont just have to turn left, right etc where you are told to. he tells you an area to head for and you have to follow signs etc so your free riding and have to make your own decisions. this lasts for about 15 min of the test.

There was only two manouvers U turn and emergency stop I'm sure that wasnt 15 mins worth.

they are not testing your sense of direction. they are testing you under real driving conditions. after you pass you dont have a bloke telling you where to go all the time

Don't think there is a limit to amount of times you can sit the test...just your wallet.. .. back on topic (slightly) I feel that the old test was a waste of time as it was not realistic....followed through Edinburgh by an examiner in a fiesta...Having never attempted the new test I feel that anything that helps keep less experienced riders in one piece is a bonus and if doing a U turn and riding at walking pace helps the so be it. We as a community have lost too many friends because they got overconfident or could not avoid the hazard just maybe having been forced to practice these as part of the test or training could have been enough to save them.

I don't feel this new test helps keep new riders in 1 piece in slightest, or that slow control does. Like I say high speed riding that actually causes accidents (real ones, not falling over at 1mph) has absolutely no relation to the "clutch-back brake-1mph" stuff, it is judgement not party trick.
