I pretty much sat behind Carelesschucca on GM1 swapping places with Stuartyboy the entire day, who was kind of sharing the lead role. I lead the Kinlochleven loop to give Carelesschucca a break. I would have offered to do it if my head was not in the place that it is in now, but to do so at the moment would be dangerous for me, I'm not even riding the rideout, that decision is made and I'm going to stick to it regardless of how I feel in three weeks time. IMO you need a rider that can carry speed safely and maintain a good pace all day long, without feeling the need to back off for a bit. Being lead bike does put you under pressure to keep the pace up and doesn't really allow you to back off. If you think not being able to chillax for the whole day may be an issue for you, then either you shouldn't volunteer for it, or you need to share the role with somebody else and take it in turns. Re: GM3 Idle banter and random drivel thread
Heads up peeps - the plan well the idea I have in my head is that we will have a leader (whomever) and try and get a few of the more not so fast ( not nec slow) up at the front to to help stop stringing the group out. There leader will have a couple of back up fast riders to help out at junctions. So that our other rider are not so quickly put to the back. This will be in place for the morning and we will review it as it may not work.
The only rule with the leaders are you don't overtake the first man or woman. If there are hassles let me know at the stops. |

Re: GM3 Idle banter and random drivel thread
There's always someone faster on these things but the fastest guys also tend to have enough sense to stop if they trip over the leader. We're ahead of the game up here though with so few junctions etc so if it's an issue the leader can always go off a few minutes early with a few willing markers. (which also helps stop the get to front- mark a junction- chase back through the pack thing that sometimes happens on big rides)
I don't know the exact route down to the details but in previous years there's been whole sections that needed about 2 markers.

Get back to school. You can't use the words 'ginger' and 'better looking' in the same sentence.
