I give the FIM and Dorna their dues for giving 58 a final run and retiring it after the race.
It would be fitting if Loris then won wearing 58

These things have a tendency to disappear from Youtube as soon as Dorna spots them, so if the above link stops working the official video is at http://www.motogp.com/en/videos/2011...rco+Simoncelli

It's on the official MotoGP channel (and actually the same video is embedded on the motogp.com site on the page you linked to). So it won't be removed any time soon

Good point. And the Youtube video is significantly higher quality than the one on the MotoGP web site proper.

An impressive sight, and the mix of 2-stroke singles and 4-stroke fours made for a lovely soundtrack.

Nice ending but I expected a lot more noise - 50+ riders all revving the a*se of their machines. TBH, I'm not sure what tribute would have been fitting for the bloke. Shame his dad wasn't shown there either.
Terrible loss.

I think that's what Paolo originally asked for, but practically speaking all of those bikes were about to go out and do one of the longest races of the season. Would you want to risk damage to your engine half an hour before the last race of the season?

I guess I thought they'd use spare bikes and it was the end of the season and the championship had been decided.
