Awesome shots marko and excellent one too Grinch of the invasion!
Lighting has to be one of the more cooler effects of nature, the crack of thunder and bolt of lighting, makes everyone feel humble in a way |

location was Majorca camera was a s2is canon (fairly pricey snappy cam) not my SLR outfit. it was a case of mini tripod on the balcony table point it in the direction of the storm set the apeture at its max in manual mode happened to be F8 then set the exposure time to the longest it would allow me in this case 15 seconds. as the direction fo the storm was pitch black i just kept clicking the shutter and praying the lightning struck within the 15 seconds and on 4 occasions it did. being so bright I guessed i would have no issues with under exposure, and being a digital camera you just review and dump the non event ones and keep the best. the storm lasted about 30 mins in total and i also have several mins of video of the lightning as well (taken on the same camera) hope thats answered everyone P.S. the last pic was so close i packed up and moved off the metal spiral staircase i was sitting on and removed the camera from the metal table. my ears were ringing all night from the crack produced from the last bolt. |

quite the contrary really it cooled the place down overnight and the sunshine was splitting the pavement the next day honestly I don't mind the odd thunderstorm and both occasions i have been to majorca we have had them on a night time. a regular occurance on that island i am told. didnt spoil the hols just made em more interesting, and it shut the kids up for a night :P |

nice pics...i very recently went on holiday to the alps on lac leman (geneva lake) on the french side...go pretty much every year and there has always been a very good storm.
worked out how to get pics like that this year on my camera...but guess what, for the first time in at least 5 years, no thunder storm, lots of rain though well done tough, they are good pics Andy |

Fantastic pic's mark.. don't know what it is but I love lightning storms... but the missus and the kids hate the thunder part... That's the best part IMHO
