Re: Clutch basket options
I have issues with changing gear on my K5, but the problem is very simple: the gearlever is too short for me.
I have big feet and when combined with some fairly clumpy Alpinestar water proof boots it means the end of the gearlever ends up way up my foot toward my leg, so I have to move my foot through some fairly extreme angles to ensure the gear lever goes all the way back to the centre position. Obvioulsy I don't manage this sometimes as I do get missed gears. The only solution I can see is to fabricate a bracket to move the gear lever forward so I'm operating it with the front part of my foot. |

Re: Clutch basket options
This again, as i re restricted it again it was less annoying, but whilst i was doing pre mot checks and cleaning the rear brake i thought id see if this amount drag is normal for an sv. The only other big bike i have done this too was a zr7 and i can stop that wheel with no effort at all, it had next to no torque at all whilst dragging. Warm, clutch taped fully in, both ends and worm drive properly adjusted. If this amount of torque whilst dragging is typical, ill stop ****ing moaning about it and live with it lol. Re: Clutch basket options
That looks perfectly normal to me. You can feel the drag by hand, maybe a pound or so of force at the tyres edge.
Naturally once it gets spinning it takes a bit of stopping due to the inertia

Re: Clutch basket options?
Yeah that's pretty normal, static friction is pretty much always more than dynamic.

Re: Clutch basket options?
Hi,
Did you ever fix the problem with a dragging clutch on the SV650? Mine is the same - I can't get neutral once the bike is hot. I fitted a new clutch actuator hoping that was the problem but it has not helped. |

Info here, https://cx500.000webhostapp.com/SV650ClutchLifter.html and the,"Clutch Mantra", https://www.svrider.com/forum/showthread.php?t=54588 Also never overfill the engine oil.Keep it around the middle of the glass on flat ground. Also since using Smith&Allen Motorcycle oil(£19 ish delivered for a gallon<Two oil changes>) my SV has never been as smooth including gear changes. https://www.smithandallan.com/produc...emi-synthetic/ HTH
