Okay, so you were working...
What type of work do you do then? Last time I went into building in that condition was to prepare it for demolition

Had friends go snooping inside Hellingly Asylum, seems like a wonderful place to explore if you're into it. We used to snoop around Shoreham cement works + quarry (disused since the early 90s) until last year when they started employing security to watch over the place
I love these kind of places, they're so atmospheric and alien, it's a great sensation being inside them. Unfortunately they're bloody hard to find and since I've moved away i've not found any abandoned buildings.

Nice lookigng building set in acres of land??? Well i'm sure it wont be too long before some developer buys it up and turns it into luxury flats.
Just like they did with this one http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colney_...Lunatic_Asylum.
Only drawback is no "local" will ever wanna live in it knowing its history so they can only sell the flats to people from outside the area

the 28 days later site is an excellent place to find threads about abandoned buildings.
Theres one or two threads about Storthes Hall in Huddersfield that used to be a scary place. My mum used to look after patients that were brought over to halifax after it closed down.

I'd like to go explore this place one day

Severals Hospital is a very moving place - I went there when it was open (as a student, not a patient). Although it was a typical Victorian lunatic asylum they had some forward thinking and even liberal attitudes there. For example, they believed that all patients, however ill, would benefit from productive activity, which was a rare thought in those days. I also know people who were patients there and my Grandmother died there.
The pictures on that site are amazing, particularly the ones of the old ballroom. My daughter went there recently to try to take some more pics for an art project, but try as they might, they couldn't find any way in. She found another abandoned house near to Mersea instead. I'll try to get some of the pics from her.
