18000 miles.
Thanks, you have really helped me loads were did you get all that info? I'm loving the new sound so might live with it, if it is not going to cause damage.

18000 is probably getting towards end of packings life. I got that info from lots of spannering, f###ing about, modifying my own bike and reading lots on the net and in books.

I'd leave it alone myself.

ahh well, now I got a bike with a can thats been on it for about 7 years, about 21000 miles, never been repacked and don't intend to do it. The previous owner never did it, and neither shall I. Don't make any difference to it now its probably nearly all disintegrated. It all adds to a fuller bwoaaaaarrrrghhhh.
