Thanks for this. So K3 only. anyone know what parts I'd need to change to "upgrade" to flashing system? eg is the sender unit in the tank all one part and therefore could be a straight swap. If so I feel a visit to a breakers/ebay coming on

interesting question. I would have expected this to be a two stage switch connected through to the instrument display or ECU but the wiring diagram doesnt even show the switch seprately. Seems that it might be incorporated to the fuel pump assembly.
