I think that is a recipe to a motor rebuild.
I'd check wemoto they normally carry sump plugs and be quicker than ordering one through your dealer if needs to

Based on sound mechanical theory, or just a hunch?

To my mind, the spark plug deals with higher temperatures and harsher conditions in a cylinder chamber, than a bolt swimming in a pool of oil?

The only issue I can think of is if cutting the insulator would make it likely to leak at all.

As for the magnetic disc at the end of the existing sump plug, I've never seen any metallic dust or particles stuck to it when removing it previously.

I know I can get one from wemoto or most bike shops locally, however needed it so I could use the bike tomorrow.

Proper nut type!

How did it get in that state?....well...that's a long story, but basically due to my doziness in overtightening it in the first place, then using a series of cunning methods from different sized sockets/grips/dremelling/hacksawing etc until I got to a point where removing the entire head to relieve the torque then extracting it was the only viable option.

Oh bugger, sounds like a mission
Stick with the spark plug as temp fix then.

I would say steer clear of the spark plug idea, even if it is a bodge for a few days. The ceramic is brittle. Have you tried cutting your favourite mug with a hacksaw? It's not gonna be a clean slice, is it?

Also, the original sump plug isn't of the magnetic tip type, so you wouldn't see any flecks of crap on it.

Get one here, they're quick at sending out. Should be with you tomorrow, if ordered this morning. They have the washer, order that too.
