Saying "good for knee downs" is a fairly useless comment. I've done it on Pirelli angels, pilot road 3s, some cheap conti's, BT016's and pilot road ones.

The tyre doesn't really matter unless it's made of cheese.

Power 3's are just as good as the 2CT's on track and provide slightly better braking grip. The difference is the longevity you will get, which is pretty good unless you're caning it down the motorway all the time. As for Touring, I've done 3k on the Pures & 3's for the last 2 summers and they were fine with lots and lots of tread left. I did more damage to them by going up and down to London than any sort of hard riding I put them through. So Pures / 3's are a good compromise.

In extension to my previous comment, I rode my mates little CBR 125 with the cheapest ****tiest tyres humanly possible. Bare in mind the rear tyre is a 100/80-17. Very small and I got my knee down on that. Also bare in mind, I'm huge.

My commute is 90 miles round trip, but I hardly ever use the bike due to lift sharing. My last two rears have had loads of tread left in the middle but been shot at the edges because of the track use. I can imagine normal road use getting huge miles out of 2CT. Looking forward to trying the 3's.

Matt... with legs as short as mine, knee downs, especially at Craner are not easy, but yes, modern tyres are more capable than us normal riders.

Here's a pic of the Michelin rear showing the wear on the sides.
I got power 3's fitted to loose wheels for £231 with a £25 petrol card back from Michelin which I thought was a good deal.

I run super corsa's, extremely brilliant tyre in the dry but I don't use them in the wet. I know someone that decided to stay out on the at mallory in the ****ing rain, I don't think I need to go further with what happened.

I run maxxis sportmaxx on the sv specifically because they were 150 quid and I needed an MOT. I'll admit I dint use the SV much but I think they're fantastic for the money. I've ridden through all conditions and seasons with them and not had one slip. I took them flat out over the mountain at this years TT week. I can't understand why people complain about them so much, maybe they should get their suspension sorted first.

Very nice angle and Pic mate. Chris if you can pick up a pair of 3's for £235 there's no way it should be more than £260ish fitted. I have mine done for £20 and it takes 10 minutes with a mobile fitter, including balancing (loose wheels).

Having just done Snetterton we had bikes on:
Bridgestone S20
Michelin Pilot Power 3
Michelin Pilot Pure
Dunlop Roadsmarts

All did just fine in changeable conditions. If you go for any tyre that you wouldn't use on a wet road then you're not going to be happy at a wet track. All the above were just fine when it dried out too, with the Michelins both having done well at Mallory with warmers in the dry too.

For a do it all tyre I would fit something like the Michelin Pilot Power 3 and not fuss about the weather. They are really very grippy in good conditions, and they work well when it's less than great.
