Re: Experienced bikers
More experienced? Technically "Im indoors" I'd say. Who is the better rider? Now that's a different question ... who would I rather insure? Dizzyblonde
Hope that ends all arguments in your house now Cheers, Pete |

Re: Experienced bikers
Thats how i ended up with Suzy actually, he couldn't afford to insure it a couple of years ago, and I just passed my test.Even being a newbie I managed to get cheaper insurance than him, much to his annoyance. Shouldn't have got all the points should he!!!! Now I can insure both still cheaper than his Raptor even though he doesn't have the points, its a different catagory i know, but, it would be interesting to find out how much i could insure it for!!!! Plowsie your not supposed to say that!!!

Re: Experienced bikers
In my opinion its the rider who has covered the most miles in all seasons, rides skillfully, progressively, safely and confidently.
I dont think length of time holding a licence has any bearing on it. |

Re: Experienced bikers
Intersting point about experience. I've ridden with peeps who ride every day doing lots of miles over many years and are.... how to put this....'safe' riders. I've also been on rideouts with riders with far less time and milage under there belt who have been astonishing riders.
Experience counts yes but natural ability and instinct count a lot too. I've been on bikes on and off (ouch) for 24 years and am still a cr@p rider in my book. |

Re: Experienced bikers
I think people are getting EXP and riding ability mixed up.
For me EXP is through milage SIMPLE (in different conditions - NOT SO SIMPLE). If you have been riding for 8 years doing 1000 miles a year you arn't experienced as a person doing 8000 miles in one year! (especially if the person doing 1000 miles only does it on sunny sundays!) Thats not to say the person riding for 8 years isnt a 'better/faster' rider. Ive riden for 3 years and in the last 24 months done 23k miles on my SV, my mate has done about 4k miles in same time, he can keep up with me BUT i think the difference is i know what pushing it will do, i ride within my ability... he doesnt, he just hopes it will be good! Hope that clears things up for you. |
