With great respect, it's not a matter of the rider not minding........rest assured that the insurance company, police, Courts and anyone else involved in an accident will mind.

Sorry, but I've got no time or sympathy for people who ride machines that they are not licenced to ride on public roads without insurance.

Just ask yourself how you would feel if you were knocked off your bike by an uninsured driver.

What annoys me the most is the usual arrogant attitude which comes with it.

EDIT- Thanks Davido, for just underlining my point!

davido, why don't you just do your full test now you've had a bigger bike for a while? it seems the easiest thing to do, insurance is no different afaik and you only pay for the test!

Well I would but I'm 17, so I don't have much choice in the matter atm.

Like: Sorry for sounding arrogant earlier but I've heard it all before. I know the risks, I understand the consequences, so I don't need the lecture. It gets annoying with everyone pointing out the same thing over and over and over again.

Like when I had my rs50, I rode that derestricted and all was well. And I've been pulled once on my SV and the restriction question never even came up.

I'm not one for breaking laws, but this licence restriction is designed so that people my age don't go and buy a busa and just die. But I can handle a full power sv no problem.

There should be a system in which you can take a direct access at 17, provided you show you are capable of riding a bigger bike safely. Either that or whack it up to at least 60hp. 33 is only an unrestricted 125 ffs.

i hope it doesn't come up in future, cos (as you know i'm sure) it would hurt your ability to get any insurance - i'm guessing it's classed as riding without insurance which iirc is 6pts and an endorsement the insurance companies would hate.

fyi though (for others) i think it wouldn't be the same as being hit by an uninsured driver - i just think the insurance would be reduced to 3rd party only, same as if the insurance company found out you were riding with undeclared mods, etc?

If I hit someone, the odds are the insurnace company will just pay up. If someone hits me, that's when things start to get a bit sticky.

Unless of course I happen to crash into something a tad more expensive than your standard Ford Focus.

I third this. I had my SV at 17. Rode it for a week unrestricted then caught myself on and took it in to have it done. If you want the extra power then you want the more accessable speed that comes with it. I guarantee you the first place your insurance company/police will look is to see if you're restricted, especially if you were "cruising along at 90" when you have the accident. Why even bother getting your license or paying insurance if it's all invalid?

Wise up, restrict it, and in two years time you'll enjoy it all the more. It's not just yourself you affect by not abiding by the law.

Hey I can understand where you're coming from. But this isn't really going to change my mind on the issue.

Call me arrogant, stubborn or whatever you want. But the fact is I'm happy with my bike as it is. If I come off, sure I'll be in the ****, but then again I may not come off.

I'm not going to be riding it much throughout winter much, getting my car licence done.

"Wise up, get it restricted" Its comments like this that annoy me. I know the risks and am leaving my bike unrestricted knowing full well the consequences, so how that makes me unwise is beyond me. I suppose you mean ill-advised?

But if you tell someone that they are wrong, they automatically disagree and do the opposite of what you said, especially if you call them stupid while doing so. It's human nature.

Intersting, id call it imature tbh! @ 17 you have no idea, ' 20 i dont either but i have more idea than you im sure! after having an accident very recently which could have been worse had i been going faster but was no fault of myown i know hoe easy it is to get ****ed! too easy mate!

It is your choice but instead of acting all tough im good the bike wont let me down think about where a car could end your enjoyment!

33bhp lets me have fun, i keep up with people with 4 times my power through the corners and you know what... that makes me better, i can go better than them who enjoys the stright roads is all ill say to finish this rant!?
