My principle concern with this venue is the lack of hotel accommodation on site. Yes there is the B&B facility but there is not a lot, two twins and two doubles. I would guess that if a proposal was ok'd that this accommodation would be snatched before the masses even knew the venue/date. Austwick Hall nearby looks nice, but a tad pricey and again with limited accommodation. Thus there is a real danger of the Org being split across numerous local hotels/B&Bs etc.

There are six rooms in the B&B with the possibility of another two next year.
Unfortunately, there was no hotel accomodation at AR09, IIRC not AR08 either. People had to go off site for those too, to seek different accomodation. They were both situated in Pub grounds, with added camping. AR08 only had toilets when the pub was open, we got a porta loo, no showers.
AR10 it was a lucky strike to have it all under one roof.

So not really much different to previous years. Plus you do have the bunkhouses, which are attractive to those who don't like camping but don't like hotels etc. Between those is accomodation space for 40 people.

Across in Austwick is another B&B which I linked in the other thread, which is far cheaper than Austwick Hall.

For such a large group I doubt there are many sites out there that can cater for all our tastes. This is just a proposal after all.

Do a lot of people camp at ARs as I don't want to be in the field by myself.
I only ask as Ive only attended other rideouts and not an AR yet.

Yes, don't worry you won't be Billy no mates
Like I said in the last post, it was only this yr, AR10, that had more accomodation on site. Now people have been spoilt by the idea, its set another level, to be expected the year after.
Not everyone can afford B&Bs and hotels, in fact the majority camp.
Good job this has more than a field then eh??
