Carried ours on the red GPZ to the left in the first picture here:
http://forums.sv650.org/viewtopic.php?t=33302 Phil had welded an improvised rack to the rear back left to sling it in! (tent is the blue roll) |

The piccies make it clear.
Thanks for all the input. I appreciate that to some it may be a stoopid question but I haven't done it before and the feedback has been immense !! Might be worth posting this on the 'Annual Rideout' section as a 'hints an tips' item for the 'nobeds' like me :P

Re: Getting A Tent On The Bike Question?
Quote:
Tailpack and tent. I used to carry an immense amount of luguage for a weekend. Then i got wise, and realised that you really dont need to take huge amounts of stuff. 1pair of jeans/casual trousers, pair of trainers, change of underwear, 2 tshirts, wash stuff, done. However, for longer weekends, panniers with the tent on the pillion seat worked for me |

Depending on the shape of the tent, you can also put it on the tank and use a bungee net to hold it down. I've done this many times on camping trips.
