Go to Citizens advice and ask them about Statutory Sick Pay ( SSP ) If I'm right its a government thing and nothing to do with your work, its not much money but it'll be better than nothing.

Have a read of this site, i get the impression they have to pay SSP in almost all circumstances, although there are a few get out clauses. Even if they don't it tells you about a form your employer came fill out to try and get you something.

Boy oh boy, am I glad I paid that little extra for protected no claims. I had a £1650 claim against me last year, this year my renewal quote was lower than I paid last year.

Of course, I went and screwed it all up by buying a different bike this year.

Under 21s (or 25s?) aren't eligible for protected ncb. plus I didn't plan to crash

it's not been an age related thing for me, you need to have a certain level of NCB to get it from most of the insurers i've used, 4yrs normally

That could be right, but it'd be hard to get 4 ncb years before being 20, so I'm still out.

if you have separate policies yes, each one earns one years NCB when it expires...
