bums to the pair of you then. See if you were doing it at The Ace i would have joined you, but i'm not getting up early enough on a Sunday to get to Bromley by 8.45 thank you very much.

not that i'm lazy or love my sleep (which i am and i do) but i wanna be alert on a BikeSafe course and at that time in the morning no amount of coffee works on me well enough.

lol im not looking forward to starting that early on a sunday but once im up im fine... its the getting out of bed that is difficult.

Just looking on the map and it shouldnt be too hard to find or get to (more or less straight road from sutton to the place) - May go out there on Saturday to make sure i know and find out how long it will take me (so i know how long i can stay in bed)

I have recently bought a new SV. Its a step up from my 125 which i rode for 2 years and got used to riding about.

I am looking to do extra training courses to enhance my riding ability. I have noticed that the bikesafe course stops at the end of November until Feb. Does anyone know why this is?

Also, for people who have been on the course. What is the days plan on the course? What do they teach/get you to do etc?

I did the BikeSafe from the Ace a month after getting my CBR125 - First ever Bike.

The day really consists of introductions, a morning presentation and question/answer session, order your lunch from menu. You are assigned a rider for the day, sometimes in 3 or 4's - Check on your clothing, bike and you are ready for your first ride on the local streets. The police riders are just looking at your riding style and any errors they see and will advise on route!! Out for about 1hr!

Back to the Ace for debrief and another short presentation then dinner (included in the £30).

The second period is again a few short presentations (10/15 mins) then out for a longer ride using A40 up to Gerrards Cross and Amersham way on some of the back roads (wow!) with the police advising all the way....only if necessary though. Out for about 1.5hr, maybe longer!

The ride back was great because a couple of groups met en-route and the police 'out riders' cleared the way up the A40 with us 'ordinary' riders squeeling it up behind with the car drivers looking gob-smacked at our cheek!!

Back to the Ace, a quick debrief, then some sales talk (no serious or hard hitting) and the rest of the day is yours. I got home at about 4pm, so not bad for £30.

The bonus of course is the certificate of attendance which will offer upto 10% off your insurance at renewal! You can go on the course more than once. In my case I went on the 125 day and was asked to come back when I get another bike over 250cc!! So 2 certificates showing progress!

Go for it, its a great day, a good laugh and the Ace gets really busy on a Sunday and all seems to appreciate learners and join in the fun!
