I think the damper whotsit, the big tapered thing, may have enough movement in it to make a clonk. Not sure...

If this is the case, then why did it all but disapear when i was very lightly braking? I still put money its mainly the claipers, amplified by everything else.

As said, it rattles, deal with it

There's definately more than one cause... No one thing sorts it on every bike.

Uprated springs and heavier oil did stop my SV forks knocking however!

Exactly... Another cause for another knock. Mine knocked till I changed the oil too- but other people find they still knock.

If an SV650 has a flat tyre in the forest and no-one is there to blow it up, how long will it be 'til someone posts that the reg/rec is duff and the world will end unless a CBR unit is fitted? A little bit of knowledge = a dangerous thing.

It has floating calipers and discs, They definitely make some noise but I would say yes to all of the above and just ignore it. The forks aren't going to fall off.
