I have had the same problem on a K4 too.
It fell off last week at some traffic lights near Marble Arch. It happened as I was trying to select neutral, luckily it went in to first so I was able to pull away as the lights went green. Obviously a bit of a design fault, either that or we have both got bikes built on a Friday afternoon. |

With the K3 model the selector and foot peg are connected to the mainframe with 1 bolt. Whereas the K4 model the selector is connected to the bike just in front of the footpeg. I guess if it did happen on a K3, your foot would be dragging on the floor
