yes but to keep the shock in the correct position the first third of the spring should be used up with the weight of bike and rider (the same as if it was a linear spring) then after that the spring gets progressively stiffer so compression should be less for a given load. I think its why they came up with progressives, to limit travel...

Plus, if you have budget springs as OEM, anything is a vast improvement, and without trying both linear and progressive side by side, most would not notice the difference.

I've had Progressives installed on two bikes now and been very happy with both.

Well if your sag is correct with the OEM spring I dont think you can get much better no matter how much you spend on a replacement. Going to a linear would mean that under a given force the shock will travel further and make the sensation a little smoother because energy absorption will be less abrupt....

Thanks everyone for all the info will send them to a suspension bike shop see if they can sort it as glang said bouncy bouncy not to soft lol.
may try some new oil a bit heaver than stock.

If you need spacers let me know, I have plenty spare from when I did my springs and was trying different lengths. Or buy yourself some PVC pipe and make your own (but then like me you'll still have 2m of it kicking around the garage)

Did you try the Racetech spring rate calculator I pointed you to? It would give you a good idea of how close, or far out, the standard springs are for your weight and riding style.
