Tends to be more of a problem with carbon fiber, stainless is pretty tough, however they will spit out the packing quite regularly.

Like chris says below stainless arnt so bad. I have a welder and a lifetime guarentee if I go beowulf.

Akra's are FAR too expensive and tbh I cant see the big difference between those and any other oval. Different amount of wadding? Not worth the extra 200%+ cost imo.

Also Im wanting to go for the odd shapes, I like em more.

I had alloy Renegades on a Firestorm. Sounded great on the bike, rattling floorboards inside your mates house, setting of car alarms. A mate had ago and I listened ........... they sounded pretty poor, all raspy and metallic ,no bass. Took'em off and apart and there was only approx. 1/4 packing left!

Sent them off to get repacked and stainless sleeves put on them.

Got them back, fired it up, NO DIFFERENCE! Sound or volume. After 36k there was fractures all over the cans.

On the other hand my mate had Hi-level Remus for nearly the same miles, perfect nick (alloy), no nasty bracket, never needed re-baffled, deep bass sound. Why I chose Remus for the SV.

If you only do a 3k a year you may get away with using cheapies. You get what you pay for. Its not just what is on the outside.

Personally I would go with FUEL pipes. Had them on 4 of my last bikes (SV650, Z1000, Hornet and ZX7R) and they are great plus they are cheaper than any other make (and handmade in UK too).

With you on that one, but they have moved to Portugal and now hard to come by.
