Some dogs can develop irritation of the pads due to the grit and salt about at the moment, and their pads can crack. A client of ours swears by them for her dog but I have to say it's not something I'd put on my dogs.

we used to put socks on our dog when we took her out in the snow. The snow used to clump in the fur between her pads and freeze and made it uncomfortable for her to walk. meant we were able to stay and play in the snow for hours

I saw a german sheppard wearing shoes when I walked up Snowdon and didnt think very much of the idea at the time, although the dog didnt seem to care.

It's sad. Dogs are designed to put up with cold without clothing, it's what dogs do.
The thing is we have selective bred domestic dogs into many different breeds that do not appear in the wild, i can imagine some breeds may well feel the cold more compared to say a wolf?

What about crocodile shoes, Jimmy Nail seemed to think they were a good idea?

Only dogs are daft enough to let their owners put them in silly outfits. Working in St John's Wood you see a lot of 'ladies who lunch' with tiny dogs in a variety of designer outfits.

Cats on the other hand aren't having any of it. Tried to put a collar on Cromarty once. Not something I plan to attempt again unless I already have the paramedics on standby.
