Stay at the club, socialise and realise that whilst you've made a commitment in moving out of the area to be with her - you still need a bit of your own life y'know.

+1 End of story

The other issue is that I'm stuck in the 2nd team, and really want to get back into the 1st team. I have a feeling that the 1st team is stuck in stone, and I won't be able to get back in to it. I'm 30 and have probably 5 years of bowling at my peak - I want to make the most of that...

Oh well in that case don't bother to fight for your place, move to a rubbish club where you can be the big star.

Just get used to losing. A lot!

If you want to get into the first team..assuming you have been there before there is no reason why you shouldn't get in on merit. If it really is a closed door then I guess you have to evaluate whether you want to fulfill your ambitions in the 2nd team or elsewhere. On the GF front why not get her to come along to a few games. If she drives you can have a beer or two afterwards . You can get the best of both worlds for a few weekends.

Now I get bored watching cricket, there's no way in the world I'll put my lass through that!

Tiger 55 - Been there, done that. It's actually very boring bowling against people who neither have the ability or the brains to bat against me when I'm bowling. Yes, it's nice to take wickets, and even better when it's lots of them. But it is so hollow when there is no contest.

My mate has spent all this season travelling to Fareham from SW Scotland to play for his club. Air miles galore. Stay with it .A better standard is more fun.

As you are considerate enough not to wish to put the young lady through the ordeal of watching you play for no good reason - why not give her a reason & teach her the black art of scoring ?

As for whether you should move or not move - +1 for NOT !!

Cheers for that 'Vox. Tis really a black art indeed (esp when it comes to scoring shots off of no balls!).

I think I will stay another season, they are a great bunch and I'm really desperate to get into the 1's!

Got a training session with me coach this evening, so will be peppering me mate and I owe him a nice juicy bruise! Remember folkes that revenge is sweet, but not fattening!
