Re: Bike Experience No.2
a superb thing to do..
how are gears changed? and if rider movement is limited it must make cornering more difficult.. and how brave to get back in to biking ... was it biking accident that paralysed them.? I know that I would not have the willpower or guts to do that .. I am too weak.. much respect to them and to you ..

Re: Bike Experience No.2
Absolutely awesome what you are doing there. I must show this thread to my ex-brother-in-law's youngest brother Matthew.
Back in 1988 Matthew turned 17 and had ready a Suzuki RG125. On his birthday he'd arranged with his boss that he'd be a little late so he could go show his mates in 6th form his new bike, which he did. On his way out of the school he turned left and approached the first bend, got it wrong and ended up in the ditch. This wouldn't have been so bad if he wasn't carrying his lunch including a can of coke in a rucksack. Matt's back was broken by the coke can and he's been paralysed from the chest down ever since. He's always been desperate to get back on a bike and always pleads with me to strap him on my pillion seat. I'm sure he'd love what you're doing |

Re: Bike Experience No.2
Truly inspiring.
I am a support worker for adults with physical and/or learning disabilities. I was recently lucky enough to take two charming young women out for a ride on my bike. Making sure that they understood what was about to happen and making sure that they felt in control of the situation so that they would not be afraid and fall off was nearly the hardest part. The actual hardest part was making each of them get off the bike afterwards! I think that they will be going for a ride again. As for these photos, it is always inspiring to see people over coming fears and physical difficulties. If I wore a hat, I would take it off to you sir. |
