On a different note is the front sprocket nut suppose to have a small amount of movement in it.

.... and the rubber washer looks like the sort of thing you often get on screws holding screens on .................. but it might be something completely different.

hold the horses. if the front sprocket is moving front too back a few mm along with the nut then its normal play in the output shaft.

however if there is no locking tab/washer on the nut and its just the nut that is moving then yes its loose, if there is a locking tab/washer then i very much doubt that the nut will have come loose.

if you put the bike on a paddock stand and put it in gear then move the back wheel you will feel play, this is perfectly normal.
