Yes, this would be the best solution. I've seen these cases selling for about £20.

Laptop drives supply the power through the connector on the MB with the two pins on the right of the drive.

There are cheep converters that only cost a couple of quid on ebay that split out into a IDE socket or cable and a standard molex power plug.

Its a very usefull thing to have when working with laptops.
