My brothers got one. But an R
He's had loads of niggly electrical problems. Mainly poor starting and eating the battery which he solved by fitting a higher capacity amp battery. It eats front brake disc's and they warp really easily. Its pretty common to see alot of 2nd hand brake discs for a Millie on ebay most of which are sold as straight, but are actually warped, he's got caught twice like this, so be careful if you are buying 2nd hand parts. Its also apparently for older Millie's to suffer low oil pressure at idle. Again solved now after fitting new oil pump internals and also he's been told by a man who worked on Millies for a while to run it on thicker oil. Also watch the stickers they suffer really badly with being cracked / faded by the sun so. All the trouble has made him fall out of love of biking and he's bought another bike now as he was fed up with and the Millie is going. If it were me. I'd buy a later shape one with the air in take in the middle as most of the niggles were sorted by the time they got to making that model.

So its all good news fizz.
Its a 2002 model i been looking at (the one in the pic). I know it isnt the best year the 2004 ones are a little better but £3500 + the ability to upgrade from 6 months warranty to 2 years is good. Its done just over 11k miles and ive seen a few of this model doing over 20k and im presuming going well. I know the electrics are dodgy. But if the insuranc people will let me ill run the SV and the RSV so if i do have issues then i can sort them without too much of an issue. Id probably just buy EBC disks. Id guess they would maybe be better? |

Yet again insurance might spoil the fun... Its not good is it. 3 yrs no claims 21 nearly 22 and struggle to get insurance. Gits... No wonder people ride without it! £1400 is about the cheapest for just a millie 2002 model. Was wanting to have the SV and millie on the insurance, not sure ill be able to.
With me doing about 12k miles a year going for just the millie might not be a good plan with what i hear about reliability issues. ![]() ![]() |

Warped front brake discs can be straightened, Hagon do it. They've done a fair few for me over the years, mainly big Kawasaki ones e.g. ZZR1100, ZX9R and even some narrow track cast iron AP ones I had on the Gixer Thou. |

My choice would be a 2004 onwards Mille, however the earlier models are a damn fine bike with many a devoted owner. Great power and handling characteristics have made many an awesome track weapon.
A few niggling issues but not enough to turn one away from what is a superb machine no matter what the year.HTH. |

The SL Falco will be cheaper to buy and insure and still has serious grunt. Reliability should be similar to the Mille and they have exclusivity if not quite the cred, you'll be the only guy with one on every rideout and everyone will be pouring over it as they don't see them too often. Should in theory be more comfortable than the Mille and certainly better for pillions, but I have heard owners say the opposite because you sit in the seat, not on it, so the Mille can be more comfortable for long distance and easier to ride fast because on the Falco you can't move around. Maybe thats just biased Mille owners. And I think the Falco looks pretty good....
