an old mate of mine had similar looking beasties in his leg a few years ago, along with a titanium spike holding the 3 bits of his thigh bone in a straight line.

after he had it taken out he regularly used it as a kebab skewer on the bbq - dirty ba5tard

They wouldn't let me keep my bit of metal - I reckon that was because the consultant wanted to use it as a new golf club

The longest one through the heel bone all the way through into the shin bone. The shorter one. Through the side of the foot below the ankle the shin bone. I have a picture of the xray somewhere.
