No one seems interested when I tell them ... or they say summin like "oh my dad/brother/ long lost 4th cousin's got a Harley .... " ... at that point I switch off/lose all respect for them and whatever they say from that point on!! ... or they say how their dad/brother/ long lost 4th cousin's got hurt or killed in a bike accident ... at that point I switch off!!

yeah i get that aswell, but i see it as a possitive thing. if you told someone you played footy they wouldnt reply, oh my best mates dads brother in law used to play football. i think it shows an interest in an unknowen subject, which is good.

Here; I read another report in the MCN ... it was about a new battery powered bike ... the geeza was selling it (so to speak - he actually totally dissed the performance/looks) under the guise of it being 'emission free' 'doesn't require burning fossil fuels' etc etc ... well ok that might be true at source as it is electric (apart from the low level ozone the motor will be making, not a lot is being pumped out) ... but how does he think the charge gets into the batteries??? The magic charging pixies?!!? .... no it is that dirty great coal powered power station 20 miles down the road feeding the national grid*!!!

I mean not only how did the idiot writing it neglect to consider that, but presumably the chief publisher** too?!!?

* anyone know what true percentage of current UK power is true clean/'renewable' energy (not nuclear, renewable)?!?!? Gotta be less than 50% .. to be fair, prolly less than 5%!!!

**I assume someone has to read all the articles before it goes to print?!!?!?

it's a strange one, I'm proud when I talk to people about my bike, my training & my plans and how its the best feeling in the world, but when I see another nobber on you-pube or someone riding like a **** on police camera action, im quick to say "that's how you get rubbed out - i don't ride like that".

I used to buy the mcn every week to get my bike fix through winter but kevin ash is a t!t and steve farrell is as bad as jeremy vine. The letters section is usually a mix of common sense "why don't we improve driving standards" and complete 2 wheeled eccentricity "I ride a gold wing in bus lanes with a trailer for fun".

You never hear people saying "ooh a **** head in a car pulled out on me earlier, I'm ashamed to call myself a car driver".

I dont ever feel embarased because its been part of my life for 30+ years but do get fed up with people saying 'youre so brave', or 'bikes are so dangerous' or 'you must be terrified'!
