With regards to fitting a relay I decided not to bother as I got the new model of oxford grips that switch off when the battery gets below ~12.7V.

The hot grips now work. Tested them and they started heating up, hopefully they'll get a tad hotter when I'm out and about. I need to find somewhere that sells heat shrink sleeving for the connections now as I don't fancy leaving the connections open to the elements. Any recommendations?

Cheers for all the input folks!
No it doesn't work I know this having left my grips on once my battery was totally flat, had be pushed to bump start my bike, remeber to turn them off otherwise u will have falt battery and won't be going any where

It's easier to find a switched live from the ignition switch that can handle a 5 amp feed to the grips. Daytona grips tell you exactly what colour cable to splice their loom into for different makes of bikes. On a Suzuki it's an orange wire.

To really benefit from the heated grips you should use muffs as well, stops the wind stealing 'all' the heat produced by the grips...

Ive just fitted some Oxford hot grips that came free with a subscription to Ride magazine. I managed to do the job as instructed and opted for the simpler 'connect to the battery' option until I habve more time to do a proper fitting.

However, I have been turning off and starting my bike all day, a day which started with topping up the charge on my battery. About an hour after I had glued the grips in to place and stoppped for some lunch, I came back to a bike that refused to start. there is power as all the lights work but nothing when I push the starter. I decided to go back over the wiring and took the seat off to have a look, everything was secure, turned the key and hey presto, we're running. I then got down and dirty and started a full scrub down, checking if the bike started after each rinse - no problems.

I go to put the bike away and stall it driving through the gate, and the problem is back, dead bike. Its gone dark now so can't go through the seat removal process again to see if the problem resides there. Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be. i am totally new to this and literally have no logical idea what it might be because the battery has a charge and nothing I have done affects the ignition, the fuses are all fine and ive tried the kickstand, false neutral but still no luck..
