This is a joke, right?

How many people do you know, that live on this planet, that have routine access to liquid nitrogen?

You are right in that nothing is uncuttable. Have plasma cutter, will travel.
Only problem being that a plasma cutter isn't particularly portable.

I was actually making a point. But since you asked, there's some stored in this building (high tech research company), and I have 24/7 access as the room isn't deemed as high security.

Other than that, there's probably 3 guys I could call that don't work in this building (but same business park) with access to similar stuff.

I do, but I do see your point.

That point being- that as long as people insist on locking their bikes up with absolute s***, anything that's hard to cut is effectively invulnerable, since it makes no sense to target a well secured bike when there's a thousand others like it with joke chains.

I don't think Zanx works for Almax btw.

Whilst were on the topic of security, I've been informed of the criminals new tool of choice. The hydraulic rigging cutter. See here ... http://www.defender.com/product.jsp?path=-1|118|107602|108024&id=155930

4.4 tonnes of pressure, and you should just about be able to fit chain links in the damn thing.

I'm told there's other types available too. The one in the link is a "pump action" one (builds pressure every time you pump) but there's also emergency gas ones that you flick a switch & it's done.

As for availability, you'll find them on any decent sailing boat (and some that aren't decent - like my mates). Boat security isn't that much either (another lad I know with a boat recently had his door hinges taken off). So I wouldn't put it past scrotes to break into boats to get the rigging cutters then use them on bikes etc.

recently there was a post on LondonBikers, a guy on there had an 07 R1 nicked, alarmed and chained to a drain cover by an almax chain, they cut the chain and lifted the bike in less than 20 seconds or so, the even took the chain with the apprently.

its true, if pro thieves eye your bike chances are they will get it, its another reason to be insured! another way is they jump you, more common than you think too.

batten it down, as close to your door as possible, and get a big loud dog! an make sure your alarms sensitve and loud!
