We used to have foxes in Cornwall but I've not seen one here - in the town, I mean - in 12 years. They're a nuisance in the countryside for all the reasons that Tim gives.

Enjoy.
![]() They are a right pain, but you'll need at least FAC air rifle or a .22, <12ftlb air rifle isn't powerful enough for a clean kill. Maybe a crossbow.

Be reasonable, they are not an evil that should be exterminated. The fox is an animal. If man cannot accept that a predator might take advantage of his short-sightedness, then he really shouldn't try things as complex as chicken coop construction. ![]() |

Interesting use of the term predator. On this planet man is currently the ultimate predator. and we kill for primarily two reasons, food or sport.
Many have no problem with the former. However, they also begrudgingly accept that the food argument also includes protecting/preserving your food stock. But to make this fun by turning it into a sport seems to be a crime. Perhaps, because I grew up knowing where my food had come from, how/when it was killed/butchered etc. I have a rural outlook. I always remember my kids coming home with a piece of homework relating to a farmer who shot the rabbits eating his lettuce, the foxes starving as a result of the lack of rabbits attacked his hen coups and the kids had to write their opinion. I helped my kids with this homework, and explained the farmer should have also shot the foxes first, as they would never have hunted wild rabbits whilst there was an available chicken population, and then shot the rabbits. They submitted their work and my kids were told they were wrong as the farmer should have allowed for some loss in order to feed the rabbits and they would feed the fox and we have to live in harmony with nature. I challenged their teacher about this absurd brainwashing she was attempting and she confirmed that she was a vegan and would never accept the killing of animals, and she had thought she had the right to teach this ideal to the children in her charge. A letter of complaint was submitted and the children invited to a couple of farm visits where the process of providing the nations food was explained.

Amusing, but quite worrying the crap that some people will try to teach.
