33/36 is the standard pressures for the SV, I don't know if the 020s demand different pressures but I always ran my rear 020 at 36. It seems to be a flatter tyre than the ROadtecs and Stradas I usually use, doing the same riding leaves basically no chicken strip on the 020 and still a bit on the others. Is it 2 different 020s fitted, or an 020 and another tyre? Mixing 010 and 020 or 014 and 020 was quite popular back in the days when the 020 was still a contender...

The front fork damping is rubbish on the SV, the ground clearance is rubbish on the SV, its virtually impossible to get 100% rid of the 'chicken strip' on the rear with many of the tyres fitted to SVs*.
In short, I can't really see anything unusual here .. ![]() *Case in point:- This is my rear chicken stip of my track SV650 after I raced it at Brands once:- Now you have to bear in mind that I was only 0.5s off winning a MRO minitwins race on that tyre and only a few tenths off the lap record pace ... it still has a reasonable 'strip' doesn't it ![]() ![]() Last edited by Blue_SV650S; 11-03-08 at 06:46 PM. |

Hmm ok guys
Blue_SV650S - thats about how much strip is left on my rear? hows ur front look ? What tyre pressures any racers running? i am sure u guys will have the optimal performance psi's? petevtwin650 - You mean those rusty things ![]() Checked the tyres out the fronts a 020 and the rears a 021 ? the front is alot older looking the rears just been put on ,the front like a 55w rating and the rears a late 60's somthing, this is fine? the profile and sizes are correct So no1 on here runs 42/36 then? lol ![]() Thx for great advise once again guys ![]() |

![]() You don’t run track pressures on the road. But for interest sakes only, on the SV I tend to set mine at ~31F ~30R up or down a bit depending on perceived ambient/track temp on the day |

That's an Ohlins... But the pic is of Pete and Lissa's bike.
Personally I'd have no worries about mixing 021 and 020 at all, hey, I have a Sportec and a Diablo Strada fitted just now, I fit essentially whatever is in the garage when I need a tyre ![]()
