Seems strange to me.
im trying to lean it over but edge needs scrubbing in before im 100% confident to lean it over....vicious circle...plus its a good excuse to let treacle get his hands on her

I just had new tyres and rode home in the hail and rain. Just be sensible and be progressive with the throttle and lean angles.

My tyres are scrubbed in now

'sweating' the tyres in warmers to let the goo seep out then going out for a ride on hot rubber is the way forward
So I wasn't talking b0llocks. Woohoo!

I wouldn't.

The most extreme I'd get is to scrub them with water and a brush.

I thought washing them was ******** anyway? Surely what you need to do is get some heat into the tyre, ergo go for a ride.

consider how it is for racing, if you're lucky you might get two or three laps to scrub in a new set before proper balls out racing on them.

Gradually build up on them and you'll be fine. Riding them normally and getting a little warmth into them should also sort out the edges, you dont necessarily need to lean them right over to the edge for that.

Tyre warmers would be the luxury approach , you get to heat them up whilst watching through the kitchen window with a cuppa.

Come to think of it, tyre warmers before a road ride is something I've never considered might get me to work faster.

I thought it was a bit strange too ... in short I think we can assume Paws doesn't want to be seen with 15" chicken strips!!

I still have small chicken strips. (My excuse is i've only ridden the bike in dodgy weather or with a dodgy knee )

I'm waiting for better weather then i see it as a challenge to get rid of them. Everyone on the R6 forum i use reckons its pretty difficult(compared to other tyres) to get all the way to the edge on the stock rubber.

Consensus is overwhelmingly that its more work. Of course it can be done, but lots of people complained they were having trouble on the Dunlops and as soon as they switched hoops, no chicken strips. There are lots of photos.

I should also point out that in the thread i'm refering to, doing a trackday is seen as cheating.
