Have you looked in the service manual? All the information you should need is in there.

1400 RPM it has never idled that high. Ok I need to adjust that then is way too low. Probably starving the thing of oil if is 50% too slow. Thanks.

Draining the carbs there is a screw next to the float bowl, as far as I remember. I'll check in my manual as well.

Morning all.

To drain the carburettors you''ll need a long 5mm ball ended allen key, or preferably an allen key socket.
The rear carburettor drain screw is pretty easy to access, but the front one's a sod! You will find that a small torch helps here.

On the subject of idle speed, one often finds that careful adjustment of the mixture screws will enable a slower idle to be obtained. (providing they're not seized).
If possible I tend to set the idle on an SV to around 1150-1200 rpm when warmed up.

Cheers.

Ok carbs drained. Bit fiddly - an allen key is required and knuckles scraped. Lots of redex in the carbs, fuel and wd 40'd the plug sockets, front one was full of dust?? The idle is up, with some adjustment and it no longer sounds like a bag of spanners.

When it stops hailing I'll take it out for a run.

What the plughole? Eh?

More likely to be the remnants of all the crap that leaks down past the seal.

Sorry misread, thought you meant inside the fuel bowls.
