Or just get a 1/2 ratchet...

I have 3/8 bits for the torque wrench, 2 full sets of 1/2, 3/8 and 1/4. I can always use more ratchets, saves changing sockets and bits and having them roll away.

great, you have loads of money

ive got until yesterday i had only one torque wrench at 3/8 (now i have a 3/8 5-60nm & 1/2 40-200nm) and i used to have a 1/2ratchet which is now broken (need to replace with proper pro ones), but the 3/8 ratchet is much smaller and nicer, i dont see the need to have multiple sets of sockets when with a simple adapter i can get them to work, im not dishing huge ammouts of money for all the halfords pro kit in all the diffrent combinations

I buy my tools from Screwfix and car boot sales, some people are so daft they'll even give stuff away on freecycle. I got a big toolbox of sockets and ratchets on freecycle last year. 2 of the ratchets were snap on so I ebayed those and bought more new tools from Screwfix. Screwfix have a full 1/4 set including the long reach sockets for ?12.

I suppose I have a lot of tools because I've been buying them since I was 16. I have hammers that are older tham me

Why is it, that metric sockets use imperial drives, ie 1/4", 3/8", 1/2". 3/4" and 1"

Sortof , the ones I have are a 10mm hex shaft, then you have 10mm hex to 3/8th and 1/2" square drive.
