It goes 'round corners fine too.

huh? I didn't say otherwise - just saying what I especially liked about an IL4, that the SV650 (for all it's good points etc etc ) doesn't provide.....wasn't meant to be an exhaustive list...........

Indeed! I bought this:

around 2 months ago......1996 model with 24000 on the clock for £1500. It's an awesome bike which goes like a rocket and I'm really pleased with it. I've not had many probelms with it, the main one being a smashed clutch plate (wrong one installed by a previous owner) and seized brake calipers, but both have been fixed and the calipers replaced by a set off a R1.....one of the good things about the bike is that many parts will bolt straight on from other Yams. The riding position is really comfortable, the bike is great for pillions, and I find it quite flickable even though it is a bit of a bus

If the price is right go for it, but remember that tyres and consumables in general will be more expensive and will wear out quicker putting your running costs up.

The clutch plate being broken wasn't a big problem - where the bits went was a problem.

Regarding the price....

People have commented that it is over-priced. This may not necessarily be true. It may be expensive for a UK market, but the poster is in Helsinki! The UK second-market is incredibly buoyant and flooded with options, meaning you can get some very good deals, however it isn't like this everywhere.

For example - An average price far a k3-5 SV650S with ~10,000 miles here in OZ is around the $7000 - $8000 mark or 3500-4000 pounds!
