Sure, but it isn't the engine that's likely to break. Ultimately, it's Italian wiring...

Same problems with the SV but a lot more sensitive and troublesome, best thing to do is to remove/bypass it completely (similar to what we do with the SV).

Now that I can see it. Damn that is NICE!

TBH Italian reliability is a bit of myth. Its more like Ducati reliability... or lack of.

Quality & Reliability

Aprilia has something of a reputation, in terms of build quality and durability at least, as an ‘Italian Honda’, and the Aprilia SL1000 Falco is as good example as any of that. The standard of components, fit and finish is high and there have been few reliability issues. Instead, the biggest blackmark against Aprilia in recent years has been patchy dealer back-up and spares availability.
Thats from the MCN web site. Hope that has made you re evaluate Aprilia 's.

Oh and one small note. Since they got taken over by Piaggio things in the dealer department has improved a lot.

nope Italian honda is nothing to proud of , given the competition and that they are best of bad bunch in the electrics dept. Saying that they are nice to look at.

My RSV broke down with an electrical fault after 2 months. Rubbish.

Aye. For some really odd reason the Falco doesn't seem suffer the same issues the RSV does. I don't get it tbh but that's how it seems to be. Maybe because the Falco is supposed to be a sports tourer they designed it better for running in the rain, where with the RSV they expected it to be a dry day bike so wouldn't get much weather dmg?

Shame either way tbh.

Damn right. I was expecting it might play up at some point, but not so soon after I got it (especially with over 9000 miles on the clock - how unlucky is that? ) and not for such a stupid trivial fault.

Really spoils the ownership experience - not ridden the thing in weeks
