I wish they'e "reward" people who drive older cars for effectively recycling an old car. I wouldn't want to even guess what emissions of all kinds are created in production/transport.

according to the times rich list there is 4billion pounds between the top 1000 richies in the country.
4 percent of that would solve all the governments problems... so whats the answer? |

Shell & BP announced profits of £7 billion per quarter EACH in the last few days. Seven billion pounds!!!
Surely they can afford to drop their prices a little. Granted this would be worldwide (not specific to the UK), but that's a start! More than 50% of the cost of fuel is tax, and I don't see that changing. It would be great, but it's simply not going to happen. As for the comments in this thread as to why there hasn't been a public uprising, well, a look at recent history will tell the answer. Previous "rebellions" against fuel prices have been met with vast public disapproval. The oil companies & the government dropped the price a little, but not as much as they could of, and peer pressure from the general public stopped the protestors. It's the british way of "Lets not make trouble for ourselves" - but also being so short sighted that they can't see the benefits. If you stop the general public getting to work (and therefore getting paid), then no-one will like you. Fact. What the answer to that problem is (other than emmigration), I don't know. |

We *expect* fuel to be expensive and rising every day. The oil companies have conditioned us to just accept and put up with it.

Shall we all protest! We need a way to all meet up and do something that will encourage others to join in aswell. Not sure what it could be suggestions please. If we said to all bikers on all the other forums we go to, on one day we all go to a major petrol garage, in our areas an block them off. If there is enough from each area it will work and gets the papers attention. Maybe it will start a trend and finally bring the prices down.
