It was nice to think that at least 3 generations of kids had enjoyed my dads handywork. Although I doubt the health and safety people would have approved. about 30 ft high. no safety rails. access by ladders, rope&pully or simply climb the branches.
that's really cool!

I always wanted to relive the childhoods of the famous five and swallows and amazons, well I guess I shall just have to make sure any kids I eventually have have the chance to do just that, so I can join and relive my youth

EDIT: hang on...what's stopping me now? *goes off to find a nice big tree *

Is that in the woods off PJM? I thought that tree looked pretty familiar if so! If not, bah all these trees look the same to me these days! :/

I used to climb trees lots, only monday I asked my housemate "when did you last climb a tree?". Well, she didn't recall, damn her.

We used to play 'army' in the woods near my old house when I were a little'un, good times. Never built a tree house, but did have trees that were comfortable to sit in hehe.

EDIT: I'm moving to the country before I let any little Griffos turn up!

Hehe, excellent place isn't it! I did filthy Comp Sci and AI, you doing anything better?

Anybody manage to kill themselves lately? I think we had one drunk chap fall out of his window around the time I left, onto some nice railings. Never anybody drowned though, and god damn we tried. I miss the place, but recall that all we ever did was drink, have bbqs up by the sand dunes, and drink some more heeh.

I was lucky enough to have a great childhood living in the countryside. I could go off riding all day, or just out with the dogs from dawn til dusk and my parents never worried about me. I tried to make sure my kids had the same. There was a lovely patch of woodland with a huge pond about 2 miles from where we used to live in Rugby, and every Sunday the kids, the dog and myself would walk the 2 miles there. I'd build a camp fire, we'd cook our lunch on it, the boys would run around, build a den and climb trees. Before long, I used to have a trail of around 12 neighbouring kids tagging along too.

Great days

Sound good! I don't agree with this growing up thing, it happens far too quickly. Before I knew it I found myself sitting in an office, doing computery things and going mad. So now it's a constant search for new and exciting things to do when not in the office to help stave of the ever looming depression of adulthood... yes. Though I do get to eat cake.
